Weather Monitoring Station Completed at China Agricultural University Experimental Field
In the new era of smart agriculture, precision meteorological monitoring is becoming an essential component of modern agricultural operations. To enhance agricultural disaster prevention and improve agrometeorological service capabilities, Jinzhou Sunshine Meteorological Technology Co., Ltd (Sun Weather) has successfully delivered a high-standard smart agricultural weather monitoring station at the experimental field of China Agricultural University (Beijing Tongzhou Research Station).
The newly deployed system enables accurate, real-time, and continuous monitoring of meteorological and soil conditions across the experimental farmland, providing reliable data support for agricultural research and field trials.

To ensure data completeness and accuracy, the station is equipped with a high-precision, multi-parameter monitoring system, covering air temperature, humidity, pressure, wind speed and direction, rainfall and snowfall (weighing-type), evaporation, and other environmental variables. It also integrates a multi-layer soil monitoring network measuring soil temperature and moisture at different depths, along with comprehensive solar radiation sensors for global radiation, direct radiation, reflected radiation, net radiation, and sunshine duration. All monitoring data are collected at minute-level intervals and transmitted in real time.

The research station focuses on advanced agricultural technology development and application, where strict requirements are placed on the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of meteorological data. The smart agricultural weather station precisely meets modern agricultural monitoring needs and helps address key challenges in agrometeorological services.
High-quality temperature and humidity data support researchers in selecting crop varieties best suited to local climate conditions. Analysis of wind, rainfall, and evaporation parameters provides accurate timing windows for irrigation and fertilization, contributing to cost reduction and efficiency improvement in agricultural production.
The solar radiation sensors adopt advanced optical measurement technology to detect spectral characteristics from visible to near-infrared bands. The resulting vegetation indices help accurately assess crop water status, growth conditions, biomass levels, photosynthetic efficiency, and overall plant health.
The intelligent soil sensors monitor temperature, moisture, volumetric water content, and water storage across multiple soil layers, enabling refined soil condition management and supporting precision irrigation and farmland water conservation.

By deeply integrating Internet of Things technology and big data analytics, the monitoring station supports configurable sampling frequencies (such as every 30 minutes) based on research needs. Meteorological and soil data are collected simultaneously and transmitted to the research monitoring platform via communication modules. The platform provides real-time visualization (charts and reports), historical data queries, parameter-based filtering, data export (CSV/Excel), and data quality assessment functions to remove anomalies and ensure data reliability.
The completion of this smart agricultural weather monitoring station provides a strong technological foundation for precision agriculture research and demonstrates Sun Weather’s continued commitment to advancing intelligent environmental monitoring solutions for modern agriculture.
