Sun Weather Environmental Monitoring System Operates Reliably in Desert Extreme Heat and Cold
Recently, Jinzhou Sunshine Meteorological Technology Co., Ltd (Sun Weather) engineering team completed the installation and commissioning of a photovoltaic environmental monitoring system in Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang. The system, developed for an early-stage solar resource and irradiance monitoring project of a major energy group, has successfully passed on-site acceptance testing and is now operating reliably.

The successful deployment demonstrates Sun Weather’s technical strength and service capability in the field of energy meteorology and environmental monitoring, providing customers with more accurate and dependable meteorological data under harsh environmental conditions.
The project strictly follows international and national standards and focuses on improving the accuracy of key monitoring parameters. Based on the environmental characteristics of the core power generation area, the system adopts a distributed architecture consisting of main data logger + sub-collectors + sensor arrays, overcoming the limitations of traditional centralized monitoring and building an all-weather, three-dimensional, no-blind-spot monitoring network.

For high-precision solar radiation measurement, the system uses a TBQ-2-A Class A pyranometer, with response time under 10 seconds and measurement accuracy compliant with international Class A standards. The overall monitoring system is designed for extreme environments, supporting operation down to –40°C without shutdown and up to 85°C without failure. With an IP67 protection rating, the system can withstand desert heat, sandstorms, and severe weather, ensuring stable year-round operation.
After commissioning, the high-precision PV environmental monitoring system significantly improves the refinement level of energy meteorological monitoring in the project area. It provides real-time measurements of global horizontal irradiance, tilted irradiance, direct radiation, diffuse radiation, air temperature, humidity, pressure, wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, and module back-surface temperature.
These high-quality data streams provide a solid foundation for PV plant intelligent operation and maintenance, power generation forecasting, and energy trading decision-making, helping improve overall operational efficiency and performance of photovoltaic projects.
