Located in Beijing’s Haidian District, the National Botanical Garden covers nearly 600 hectares and is the first national-level botanical garden in China. It includes both the South Garden and North Garden, preserves more than 17,000 plant species, and hosts dozens of nationally protected plants. It also serves as an important base for botanical research, biodiversity conservation, and international scientific cooperation.

To better understand real-time microclimate conditions across the park, the Botanical Research Institute introduced the Sunshine TRM-ZS3 Automatic Weather Station. The system continuously and automatically monitors key parameters such as air temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind speed, wind direction, rainfall and snowfall, total solar radiation, illuminance, and sunshine duration. It provides high-resolution data collection, storage, and analysis for plant observation, cultivation management, and land conservation.

After trial operation, the station has shown stable performance. All meteorological parameters are collected and displayed online in real time, allowing staff to remotely access sensor data through the network. The system significantly improves the park’s capability for weather risk monitoring and early warning.

At the same time, the weather station also serves as a science education tool for visitors by demonstrating how meteorological factors influence ecosystems. It helps promote public awareness of environmental protection and encourages broader participation in ecological conservation.
